Has anyone worked out a solution for kids using Google Translate for world language assignments?
For written prompts in English, we can easily replace the Edgenuity prompt with our own, to cut out the use of brainly, but I don't have a solution for using G Translate.
The only thing we've done is added in a project at the start of the class where they write out on paper and pencil in Spanish a response to a prompt we created, to get a baseline of their Spanish skills. Our teachers use their own judgement if a student's writing is beyond the skill level for a typical Spanish I/II/III etc student, and offer that the student can come into school and do a prompt in front of the teacher if that feel that judgement is faulty. But honestly, most teachers don't want to go through that hassle.
Any other ideas out there?
Thanks -
Stephanie
