Has anyone else ever wondered why students and families aren't able to see this progress report? Whenever I conference with a student or a family, I share this screen and am constantly asked how students and families can access this. It contains really valuable information, but students and families can't see it. I just don't understand why that's the case.

Hey there Jay. Great question. I've submitted a feature request for more details to be included in the parent emailed progress report. I do know from experience that even the basic progress report parents currently receive sometimes confuses parents, so it's likely that the product team is trying to keep things as simple as possible to avoid confusion. As a teacher and administrator I would often receive emails from parents asking for help interpreting the progress report. Luckily the Help Center article about the topic existed at the time, so I could direct them that way.

Thanks for your response, Mary Lou. Since the report exists, is there a way for students to access this? When I share this report with students, they frequently tell me that they wish they could access this. They especially like to see how many hours are left in the class. It's motivating for some students to see that they are making progress. It's also helpful for them to see how much time they need to spend on the class each day in order to complete the course on time.

It's a valuable tool, and I wonder why it isn't available to students and families. Just doesn't make sense to me.

    Thanks

    Jay

I have pulled these into Kami and annotated them to explain them to parents, students, counselors, special educations teams, etc. They can be a little confusing. That said, it would be helpful for students and parents to be able to see something like this.

It would be fantastic if ALL THREE progress reports (student, teacher, and pay/guardian) were the same.

Side note: If parents/guardians activate the parent portal they can the detailed progress report.

I agree, Brenda. Unfortunately, when families log into the family portal, they see a different report. Here's the report in the family portal:

It has confusing boxes for progress rather than a more intuitive bar. It also lacks the estimated time remaining in the course as well as a daily goal.

In my meetings with families, I'm often asked how long a student should be working each day and I would love to be able to direct them to the report I see when I'm logged in. I've included it below:
